So, to go through and recap my last year of life could take hours, because so much has happened. In short, here are a few of the biggest things from each month:
- January: Heart ache, snow (that I didn’t get to play in too much), Step Sing began and so did my last spring semester.
- February: My last Step Sing (and possibly the hardest one yet), daddy’s eye surgery, Beeson Ball, saw Billy Elliot, helped with a fashion show.
- March: First time to DC, first taxi and train ride, my 22nd (weird) birthday which was made special thanks to my best friends.
- April: Last spring dance concert (I almost died), auditioned and made the dance team once more, I was on run crew for Pajama Game (which was a great show!), and the theatre department had a devastating loss of a favorite student (still missin’ ya, man).
- May: Became a published writer for a local magazine, auditioned for the fall season, Senior dinner at President Westmoreland’s house, Senior Bonie Awards (thanks for mine, guys), many of my favorite people graduated, climbed up to the top of the chapel with my two best friends from freshman year.
- June: Theatre Camp counselor with my best friend, my friend and I had our movie debut as extras (and met Harry Shum Jr and Anjelah Johnson!!), got my cartilage pierced, played a princess (Jasmine, to be specific), and found out about my internship!
- July: Costumed and danced in a 1950s music video (Thanks, Netra!), and I said goodbye to my job of 4 years.
- August: Theatre camp again, first trip to Ikea, last band camp (ever! What?), Fairytale festival (I was a ninja lol), last semester ever of college started.
- September: Trip to Oregon for my aunt’s wedding (where I got to take photos and brag about my then boyfriend), decisions and auditions for the underground concert got under way, and I learned how to weld.
- October: Last time to crew for a show: Moon Over Buffalo – a fantastic experience, which lead to an opening night spent in the ER with the boyfriend and his suite mate, break up (hard times, man), fall break – such shenanigans with people in Nashville and the Ham-, went to a wedding with my best friend (first time on my own!) and then went straight to jazz night and danced the night away, auditioned and MADE the cast of WOZ, became an official member of Alpha Psi Omega- the national theatre honor society, got to do hair and make up and participate in Asylum Haunted House (in the theatre-WICKED scary), gained a new friend who is now a best friend.
- November: Shot some of the coolest photos which turned into the coolest poster ever, had our Homecoming and senior football games (sad), and got to see Pirates of Penzance like 5 times, once being from the catwalk.
- December: Directed, choreographed, and danced in our first underground dance concert (which was a huge success), took my last finals ever, and GRADUATED from my beloved college.
Y’all, this YEAR. What a doozie.
It’s been a non-stop, up and down, joy and tears, blood and pain, laughter til your abs hurt, adventures and misadventures, love and heartache, first experiences, loss of friends, gain of new BEST friends, memory filled year. This past year has been the hardest, most stressful, most draining year, but it has also been the most exciting, best year of my life.
As I write this, 37 minutes into the new year, I feel completely blessed. I don’t know what the new year holds, but I know it’s going to be filled with all of that from last year and more. There are so many unanswered questions that I have, and I cannot WAIT to see what God has in store for me, my family, and my friends.
To those reading this, I pray that God blesses you and your life and I hope you find more than you can imagine in this upcoming year. 🙂
